The objective of this course is to train the 4th year in writing research proposal based on the Research Councils proposal and peer review system and provides the students with an introduction to the specialist skills required in proposal writing (including paraphrasing for different readerships such as the general public and policy makers) and the ensuing review process.
The course thus has three components, the first involving formulating a short research proposal (with tutorial guidance), the second providing a critical review of another proposal and the third writing a short response to the review.

Please read the section on deadlines and assessment very carefully - the schedule is very tight with important interim deadlines, and requires working on this course in parallel with ongoing teaching.
