19-20 EC5320: Foundations in Finance

The course is designed to introduce students to the tools necessary for analyzing financial markets. It starts with the foundations of choice under uncertainty and then familiarizes students with the modern theory of asset pricing. Thereafter, a general approach to asset valuation, which builds on state contingent prices, is employed to introduce the fundamental concept of arbitrage pricing and the notion of market completeness. Topics in derivative pricing are introduced in the final part of the course.
