This course seeks to introduce the concepts of agents and multi-agent systems, including the main applications for which they are appropriate. In this context, it also presents the main issues surrounding the design of intelligent agents and how these agents can interact with other agents to communicate, cooperate, negotiate and compete. These notions are exemplified by introducing an agent platform as a test-bed to implement agents and test ideas that inform the building of multi-agent system applications.
