This is a core course for 2^nd Year BSc Criminology and Sociology students and an optional course for 2^nd Year LLB Law with Sociology students in the Department of Law and Criminology. 

Course Aims:

·         To introduce students to the research process and philosophical and ethical debates related to conducting social research.

·         To provide students with an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of using different data collection methods. 

·         To equip students with the skills to conduct quantitative and qualitative forms of data analysis. 

·         To teach students how to write up empirical research in formal research reports.
